Looks good and works wellFirst off it works but the slide switch has two issues. One is the speed control numbering is reverse from the norm were 4 is lowest and 1 is highest, strange but doable. Because of this I thought that somehow the wiring was wrong so I reinstalled it by reversing the wires, however, that did not help. The other issue with the slide switch is the operation. The stops between speeds is terrible and difficult to set, cheap would be the operative word here. I've installed dozens of fan control switches and all operated smooth as butter-not this one.Minor issue is the manufacturers name on the switch. Seems totally unnecessary imo and looks tacky.Bottom line is it works for my purposes in an investment property, but had I'd known the issues beforehand I would have spent more to get a better switch.Great controls over the ceiling fan from light switch panels - great matching decorum to room as well.If you have ceiling fans with that GOD AWFUL stupid pull chain system you NEED this switch! I really do not understand why they still sell ceiling fans with pull strings, it isn't 1930 anymore. This thing wires up just as easily as a normal switch would, and gives you an extra speed! And it's very economically priced. The people complaining about the speed order don't know what they are talking about, and it's not an issue at all. This is typical for almost every fan switch on every fan ever made - first is high, second is medium, third is low. They have been building fans this way for over a hundred years. And this one gives you a fourth even slower. That is the correct order, just look at any desk fan you might have, it's the same way. It is not supposed to start at the lowest speed, that can be bad for the motor.I've encountered these slide controls in hotels and other buildings before, and the numbering has always been backwards ('4' is the lowest speed and '1' is the highest.) This makes sense because high is usually next to off on fans, but the numbering on the control should reflect this. Apart from that, it works fine with my 52-inch Harbor Breeze fan. It's nice to have that 4th speed, and these are especially useful if you have a fan on a really high ceiling and don't want to use the chain to control it.I kept it because it works so well however it is slightly gray in color and does not match the color of the switches on the wallWorks perfect. Easy to install and use. Sturdy.Theses switches work great, my wife hated the writing on them so based on another review I got some 2000 grit sand paper and rubbed the labels off, it worked great. (I actually misread the review where they said '220' grit but I'm glad I went for the '2000' grit, I can't even see any difference in the finish) Wiring was actually very straight forward if you follow the directions. I do think it's a bit odd to have the fastest speed setting next to the off but It's not the end of the world. I have no complaints about the build and quality of these. I took off one star due to the switch order and having to remove the labeling.Purchased this to replace a 5 speed rotary resistive load manual speed control for a Litex industrial look Utility fan (56") that's lowest speed was already "air plane" mode. This is a capacitive manual speed control, so not only is it silent (doesn't hum), it's much more energy efficient, does not generate heat through resistance (to slow the motor), and it's slowest speed is a nice gingerly whirl like a Caribbean patio fan. Perfect for my high ceiling garage where I needed some occasional airflow. Only downfall is that it isn't remote controlled, but I wanted a control with a higher amp/wattage to handle the larger motor of this type of fan. It controls the fan perfectly with 4 speeds, the only thing is the speeds are in reverse and moving the slider has a little clicky resistance that feels like you'll break something. However it works perfectly, no complaints for the price.Pretty simple fan switch. For 20 bucks and an adjustable motor rated switch that fits in a wall box you can't go wrong.Lots of people using light switches for fans and that's a bad idea.I used to have a Lutron Maestro fan control in my old place, and that's great, but they're expensive and hard to find as just a fan control without lights.
